Snow Guard Adhesive Installation Method

Mount SnoBlox, SnoJax II & IceJax with SureBond SB-190 Clear in 3 Easy Steps:

Surebond SB-190 is NOT recommended on Copper, Lead Coated Copper or Screw Mounted Applications.
Always obtain a spacing layout before installation. Follow suggested layout to assure your satisfaction and to validate warranty.
Clean Surface Prepare Adhesive Cover Guard with Adhesive Place Guard
1. Clean the roof surface with Xylene (Xylol) or isopropyl alcohol where the guards are to be attached. Do not allow the cleaner to come in contact with the guard. Note: SnoJax I should not be glue mounted. 2. Cut the tip of the Surebond SB-190 adhesive nozzle in a broad fashion (see insert) and smear the adhesive evenly across the entire base of the guard. The SnoJax II and IceJax have special interchangeable bases to straddle a minor rib. If there are no minor ribs the flat surface should always be down. Ensure that when the guard is set in place, the adhesive will uniformly cover the complete underside of the base and provide an adequate squeeze-out around the entire perimeter. If straddling a minor rib, the gap must be filled with adhesive before guard placement. Remember to allow for 28 days at 50° Fahrenheit or above to obtain a full cure. 3. Place the guard perpendicular to roof slope with flat front facing toward the ridge and press downward evenly to ensure complete adhesion. Check to ensure the adhesive has squeezed out around the entire perimeter. If necessary run a bead of Surebond SB-190 adhesive in areas around the perimeter that may have any voids. With a rubber glove on, smooth the adhesive around the edge of the guard, creating an aesthetically pleasing, weather tight seal.
Allow for 28 days at 50° Fahrenheit or above to obtain a full cure.

Tip: When adhesive mounting snow guards on a steep roof pitch, secure a string line to prevent snow guards from sliding while adhesive sets up. Adhesive typically requires 24 hours before the string can be removed.

Snow Guard Mechanical Installation Method

Mount SnoBlox, SnoJax & IceJax Using 100% Clear Silicone & Neoprene Washered #14 Screws in 3 Easy Steps:

Always obtain a spacing layout before installation. Follow suggested layout to assure your satisfaction and to validate warranty.
Non-Acetic Neutral Curing Silicone Must be Used on Galvanized or Galvalume Roofs.

Clean Surface Prepare Silicone Cover Guard with Silicone Place Guard
1. Clean the roof surface with Xylene (Xylol) or isopropyl alcohol where the guards are to be attached. Do not allow the cleaner to come in contact with the guard. Note: SureBond SB-190 is not recommended as a sealant when screw mounting guards. 2. Pre-drill starter points if (figure A) Self Tapping screws are used instead of (figure B) Self Drilling screws. Self Drilling type screws do not require pre-drilling of the guard. Cut the tip of the Silicone sealant nozzle in a broad fashion (see insert) and smear the sealant evenly across the entire base of the guard. The SnoJax II and IceJax have special interchangeable bases to straddle a minor rib. If there are no minor ribs the flat surface should always be down. Ensure that when the guard is set in place, the sealant will uniformly cover the complete underside of the base and provide an adequate squeeze-out around the entire perimeter. If straddling a minor rib, the gap must be filled with sealant before guard placement. 3. Place the guard perpendicular to roof slope with flat front facing toward the ridge. Insert two Neoprene Washered #14 screws (see step two), into the starter points or pre-drilled holes. Screw through the guard into a purlin or structural support or at least 2" thick wood blocking. Using a long socket to avoid scratching the guard, tighten screws to cause approximately 50% compression of the neoprene washer. Check to ensure the Silicone has squeezed out around the entire perimeter and run a bead of Silicone in areas that may have any voids. With a rubber glove on, smooth the sealant around the edge of the guard, creating an aesthetically pleasing, weather tight seal.
