Design:
The cutting-edge fin reduces significant sheer
load so it is an optimally designed snow guard for a temporary peel-and-stick
solution. Safely break apart sliding snow and ice! The SnowBreaker 3M -
Peel and Stick, uses pre-attached 3M brand adhesive tape. Every order includes enough SB-190 to seal around the perimeter of the snow guards. The pointed edge reduces
significant sheer load so it is an ideal peel-and-stick solution for a
temporary method of attachment when the temperature requirements can not be met
for the SB-190 adhesive attachment. The SnowBreaker 3M is pleasing to the eye,
easy to install, and very effective in preventing damage caused by the
sudden release of snow and ice, all without worries of overloading your roof.
No other snow guard can make this claim!
As the snow and ice slide on the roof, this cost-effective product minimizes
the danger by slicing the frozen precipitation into small pieces so it can
safely come off the roof. The forward cutting edge and the tucked back rear
support form a triangular shape that acts like a fin to split up the frozen
precipitation.
Isolated Areas and Doorways: In theory, a snow guard
can not hold snow and ice in an isolated area on a roof because the load of the
frozen mass will extend to the unprotected area. This severely overloads the
snow retention system and will cause premature release and eventual failure.
The SnowBreaker is not designed to hold snow for very long so this theory can
be modified by placing the SnowBreaker at a 45-degree outward angle over the
desired isolated area to protect. This is a huge cost saving over conventional
snow guard systems that require the entire roof area to have snow retention
just to protect isolated areas. Please see the drawing for recommended placement over doorways and
isolated areas. CAUTION, the SnowBreaker product may not be a total protection
solution for vent pipes, chimneys, and masts!
What’s Included?:
The 3M SnowBreaker includes a SnowBreaker with pre-attached
tape and 1 tube of SureBond SB-190 per 50 SnowBreaker 3M's to apply a bead of adhesive
around the entire perimeter. Small quantity orders have the price for the SB-190 built in so if you just order one 3m SnowBreaker you will receive a tube of sealant.
Disclaimer:
Testing shows that the 3M peel-and-stick method of
attachment has an average rating of 234 pounds of shear strength before it
releases from the panel. While the peel-and-stick method of attachment cures
quickly and does not have long application temperature requirements, it is not
nearly as strong as using screws or SB-190 glue underneath the entire base for adhesive
attachment. The 3M method of attachment is viewed by us as a temporary method
of attachment and should not be used in areas where the ground snow loads
exceed 25 PSF.
