When the black bristles stick up, they attract the sun and help melt the snow and ice in the gutters while keeping leaves and debris out. LeafBlox are fully compatible with a proper functioning heat wire and tapes as well.

Competing metal gutter guards can be a thermal conductor that allows air to flow underneath. The metal covers can be the first thing to freeze when it is raining or wet and can lead to ice buildup on top of the gutter guards.
